Recruit Military Opportunity Expo Sept 2nd 2010 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PNC Park - Pittsburgh Pa Sponsored by The American Legion & the Military Spouse Corporation
For Veterans, Service Members and their Spouses, come to PNC Park and get information on jobs, educational opportunities and entrepreneurship. The American Legion will sponsor more than 100 career fairs this year that provide employment opportunities for service members, veterans and their families. The veteran also profits from these events by receiving information on benefits like healthcare and education from Legionnaires who are trained to educate veterans on these important issues. The unemployment rate for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans is 14.2 percent. Many of them left secure jobs before they were deployed into harm's way. Some even owned small businesses that were unable to survive their long absences. Although highly disciplined, not all of the skills that these veterans offer are readily apparent to many employers. The American Legion will continue to assist veterans and their families in their transition to employment through our career fairs, along with the Small Business Development Workshops that we hold in Washington, D.C. and at our National Conventions. We owe it to these heroes. Please keep voting to help our veterans get jobs!!!

Remember to Say Thank You It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag. (By Father Denis Edward O'Brien - USMC)
